04/17/26 Orientation to CNC ShopBot Design - Friday Afternoon

In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how to create CAD designs using Vectric Aspire software and prepare them for the ShopBot CNC Router. We’ll cover file creation, uploading, and essential design tips to ensure your project is ready for cutting.

Note: This class is focused on design only — you won’t be using the CNC machine yet.

Once you're confident in your design, you can sign up for Orientation to CNC Milling class. In that session, we’ll review your design, help troubleshoot issues, and supervise your first CNC milling experience.

Finally, you will have the option to schedule a future date with STEAMSHOP staff to work on your small project. You must bring your own materials and submit your project design for instructor approval beforehand.

After completing the CNC Design and Milling orientation classes along with the individually scheduled session, you'll be cleared to use the CNC equipment independently.

Participation in this class is limited to individuals 18 years of age and older!

This class is a prerequisite for Orientation to CNC Milling – Session 2.
