Drum Major and Leadership Academy

The IUP Drum Major and Leadership Academy is open to rising high school freshment through seniors.

The purpose of the Academy is to assist marching band programs in the training of drum majors, section leaders, and guards in the daily expectations of a marching band.  Drum Majors will receive both individual and group conducting instruction.  Section Leaders will be taught the leadership skills and the application of those skills in daily rehearsals.  Guard Members will receive individual and group instruction in guard skills, be taught the leadership skills, and the application of those skills in daily rehearsals.  As a collective group, rehearsal strategies and outcomes will be discussed and implemented through group performance.  Section leaders will also be instructed in the application of conducting skills and rehearsal applications.
